You can keep the fresh roast flavor for a few weeks by following a few simple guidelines. Heat, humidity and air are your beans' greatest enemies!

How to store coffee beans

It's no secret that coffee beans go through a process of degradation quickly. To ensure the best flavor from your beans, you have to store them properly. However, a lot of people are confused as to how best to go about it. Many people think they can simply put their beans into the fridge. This isn't the best method.

Keep your beans at room temperature in an airtight, opaque container. This will shield your beans from their biggest enemies: air and moisture. The air can strip the beans of their fresh-roasted taste and moisture can weaken them too. Also, heat can destroy the aroma and flavor of the beans. Light (especially sunlight) will also reduce the natural shine of the beans.

It's not a good idea to store coffee beans in your refrigerator. They could absorb the flavors of other food items, like cheese and onions in the refrigerator which could affect the taste of your espresso. They also are exposed to moisture and Fresh Bean Coffee condensation due to the cold air in the refrigerator.

You may want to store your beans in the original container or in a plastic bag that can be resealable. Make sure to push out all of the air before sealing the bag again, and keep it in a cool, dark place. This will allow the beans to last a bit longer, however it is best to use them within 72 hours after roasting.
