BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to get around your security system because it requires a valid PIN code to begin the engine.

The Ghost is unlike other immobilisers as it doesn't rely on key fobs or LED indicators. Instead, it makes use of the buttons in your vehicle to allow you to enter a specific disarm sequence that you only know.

Stop & Start

This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for a signal from the ignition key, and once this is found it will continue to run. Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessible via buttons in your car. This lets you enter an exact key-push sequence that isn't present in the standard menus for media, like volume up/down, source, cruise control or aircon on, which prevents your car from starting unless the sequence is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to guess.

We can also include a service/valet mode. This mode is activated when your vehicle is being maintained so that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment system (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically re-arm when you return.

It also lets you bring the vehicle into the garage for servicing etc without having to worry about it getting tampered with or stolen by a mechanic whilst you are waiting.

When the service/valet mode is enabled when the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW is unable to drive after it has been turned on. This stops anyone else from attempting to drive it while you are away. When you return, it will revert back to normal, preventing your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen again.

If you do not want to use a smartphone, or don't feel comfortable with it, we can provide an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an additional cost and requires an additional Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

It's designed to stop thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost is connected to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before your engine can be started.

Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it is unable to locate the correct code, it will also stall the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature can be removed by entering your push sequence or by enabling service mode, which allows your vehicle to start and drive without having to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW and you want to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system while the vehicle is parked. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This can be useful when mechanics or valets need to start your car and you are else. The system allows you to turn the vehicle on, select drive and exit service mode without needing keys. You can also view your vehicle's location in real-time on a map on your smartphone, which is ideal to track your car while on the move.

The Ghost can be placed under the dashboard or inside the centre console, it is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique pin code is inserted into it. The pin code must be selected before the engine starts. This stops thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU in order to get around this system.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will go into a service mode and shut down all functions unless a PIN code is entered or you utilize the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was developed to protect your vehicle from high-tech thieves who utilize relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from being able to use their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost can also prevent the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most frequent way a car is being taken away with a key-fob that has been copied or stolen through hacking. Ghost can help you avoid this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle called Secure-A-Key. The device is installed inside the key fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a few inactive minutes. This can be done with the majority of modern PKE keys.
