They have improved their active noise cancellation, eliminating more background noises and have a longer battery life.

These headphones are Bluetooth 5.0 compatible and Sony LDAC is also supported. These headphones can transfer high-resolution audio however, you'll need compatible equipment and a streaming service. The WH-1000XM4s can also allow you to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously and automatically switch between the two when required. You enable this feature through the Sony Headphones Connect app and it is extremely effective.

The touch panels are more sensitive than the XM3. They respond faster to a tap on the panel, and this makes them easier to control during a phone call or to listen to music. Sony also added an option that makes voices sound clearer and more precise when calling which is evident and a nice feature.

The WH-1000XM4s may not be perfect, but they're among the top wireless headphones that we have ever tested. They're comfortable and well-constructed, and come with a a battery that can last for more than 30 continuous hours. They can also be used passively using an TRS cable which is great for those who travel or want to save power.

The WH1000XM4s are a better alternative to the Bowers & Wilkins Wireless Over-Ears Px7 S2. The Sonys are more comfy, and their ANC can block out more background noise. The B&Ws feature an EQ that is more flexible, as well as an app companion to adjust the audio performance. But the B&Ws have an improved design, and they're able to connect with two Bluetooth devices at once. They also support aptXHD, and they have an AI-driven engine that attempts to up-scale compressed music to high resolution. The headband is constructed of plastic, yet it is sturdy and comfortable with hinges made of metal at the pivot points, and the ratcheting mechanism that is familiar when you retract or extend the ear cups. The cups are cushioned and have soft pads that are comfortable to wear over your ears without putting pressure on your head. They weigh 238 grams and are fairly compact when folded. You can use them when you're wearing a coat or sweater as the noise cancellation function is functional even when they are not on your head.

Despite their reputation as comfortable headphones, the QC45s do not provide the best sound quality at this price point. The frequencies are dull and lack the details that more expensive headphones may be able to bring out. The upper registers are amplified which is acceptable for most music genres but could be a problem for more delicate and intricate genres. The bass is decent but it lacks power.

The possibility of pauseing the playback when removing the headset is a feature absent. This is a feature that Bose's rivals have provided for several years. Another oversight was the absence of an in-app EQ. Bose offers preset EQ settings within the app however it would be nice to have a manual control.

You can connect to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth 5.0 with support for multipoint and the more advanced codecs such as aptX Adaptive. You can download the Bose Audio app to adjust your headset's audio and voice assistant settings.

The QC45s also come with four built-in microphones that listen to your voice during calls. The quality of calls is generally good but the headphones don't come with the handy capability to muffle your voice while playing back which is something other wireless headphones have. Update In February 2022, the firmware update to the QC45s gave you an option to adjust the volume manually in the audio app which is a welcomed improvement.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

Focal is a French audio brand that is known for high-performance headphones that provide long-lasting comfort and a style that let listeners know they're listening to something special. Their first attempt at wireless Bluetooth Stereo headphones headphones that block noise, the Bathys are a stunning set of headphones that look and sound great. They have a high-performance USB DAC built in, making them suitable both for wireless and wired listening.

Focal claims that the Bathys can play Bluetooth music for up to 30 hours. We had more than 40 hours of playback on average from a single charge. If you need to charge your headphones, the indicator light on the right earcup will turn red.

They come with a wide range of features for headphones at this price that include support for multiple devices simultaneously and automatic pairing (though you'll have to manually select your source device every time you want to listen). The headphones have built-in microphones that works with voice assistants, such as Siri or Alexa. The headphones have an easy-to navigate interface that makes it easy to control music and make calls.

Bathys over-ear headphones are able to perform in our noise cancellation test, reducing ambient noise by an average of 9 decibels. This isn't as impressive as the ANC in the Bose QuietComfort 45/QC45 Wireless, however it's still fairly effective.

The Bathys headphones performed well in our wire less headphone sound tests. Their frequency response was largely similar to the headphone curve of SoundGuys with minor differences in the mids and wireless bluetooth stereo headphones bass. They have a bass-rich sound pattern that adds plenty of boom to the mix, but can sometimes make vocals and instruments like cymbals sound dull.

They also have excellent leakage resistance, so you can wear them out in public without worrying about people listening to your music. Their mic has passable quality of recording via Bluetooth with only a slight distortion in the mid to treble range.

4. Sennheiser Momentum 4

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless are a new version of the company's top-of-the-line Bluetooth headphones. The previous model, called the Momentum 3, was a decent, but not the most impressive entry in the class. The new model improves on the previous model with a sleeker design, improved gesture controls, and an enormous battery life.

The improvements are subtle but add up to an over-ear pair of headphones that feels like an upgrade. The Momentum 4s are flat and don't fold. They come with a hardshell case to protect them while on the move. They also follow the trend of several other recent Bluetooth headphones, like those from Sony and Bowers & Wilkins, to be beautifully device agnostic. This means they work well with both Android phones and Apple iPhones, but do not have the additional features (like Find My support and head-tracked Spatial Audio) that you'll find on AirPods.

The most notable change is the huge battery that can play for up to 60 hours with noise cancellation turned on. This is more than the majority of the competitors offer and enough for a long-distance trip without worrying about finding an outlet to charge them up.
