The system uses dual-laser LiDAR -- similar to what you'll find in self-driving vehicles -- and can scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping, faster response times, and better cleaning accuracy.

In my tests, the X2 Omni washed its pad in just over a second and got to work. I noticed that it was more precise than other models, which seemed to follow the grid of rooms. It was adept at navigating my rooms with its corners and edges as well as make an "Zambani pattern" that ran up and down the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station frequently to empty the dustbin and wash the mop with hot water before beginning another task of cleaning.

This budget-friendly robot from a popular new brand is the cheapest we've ever tested and offers exceptional value for the money. The basic navigation system is based on a basic random pathing algorithm, and it lacks the ability to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than other models in this list. However it's still able to get under furniture and into corners and its mopping feature performed well in our testing, picking up stray pet hair and other debris easily.

Shark's iQ isn't quite as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in getting rid of pet hair from all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less efficiently and does a decent job on carpets with low pile and utilizes smart-pathing navigational technology to provide superior maneuverability. It also allows you to transfer it to a particular room, and its advanced suite of automation features include no-go zones and scheduling. It allows you to stop and resume cleaning making it ideal for homes that have pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent knots from pet hair and other debris and its bagless self-emptying dock station can store up to 30 days worth of dirt before it needs to be empty. It has a set angled side brushes to reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, allergens, and dander.
