Focal claims that the Bathys can play premium bluetooth headphones music for up to 30 hours. We were able to get more than 40 hours of playback time on average on a single charge. If you need to charge the headphones then the indicator light on the right earcup will go red.

They offer a good amount of features for a pair of headphones of this price point that include support for multiple devices simultaneously and automatic pairing (though you'll have to manually select your source device every time you need to listen). The headphones have built-in microphones that can be used with voice assistants, such as Siri or Alexa. The headphones feature an easy to navigate interface that makes it simple to control music and make calls.

For headphones with over-ear connectivity The Bathys perform very well in our tests of noise cancellation, reducing the sound of the surrounding environment by about 9 decibels in average. This isn't as impressive a result as the ANC in the Sony WH-1000XM4 or Bose QuietComfort 45/QC45 Wireless but it's still quite effective.

The Bathys headphones did well in our headphone tests. Their frequency response was mostly similar to the headphone curve of SoundGuys with minor differences in the mids and bass. They have a bass-rich sound profile that adds plenty of boom to mixes, however, it can make instruments and vocals like cymbals sound dull.

A lot of the improvements aren't that obvious, but they add up to make a pair that seem like a step up from the previous model. The Momentum 4s are flat and don't fold. They come with an outer case that protects them when on the move. They also follow the style of many other recent Bluetooth headphones, including the ones from Sony and Bowers & Wilkins, to be beautifully device agnostic. This means they can work with both Android phones and Apple iPhones, however they don't have the extra features (like Find My support and head-tracked spatial audio) that you'll find on the AirPods.

The biggest change is the huge battery that can play for up to 60 hours with noise cancellation on. That's easily double what most of the competitors can provide and enough for a multi-day trip without having to worry about finding a power outlet to charge it.

They can move around on your head with intense head movements. This could cause them to suddenly wake up and can cause distraction when you are listening to music or calls. Fortunately, they will shut down after 15 minutes of sleep by default and can be manually switched off using the power button.
