1. iRobot S8

It can be used to vacuum and mop and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors, and offers a broad range of features and controls that are accessible through the app. It comes with a useful feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, and Keep Out zones in areas where you do not want it to go. It also gets software updates, like all Roomba products, that enhance it over time.

It's expensive, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can sweep a large home in under two hours. It can switch between vacuuming and mopping with the press of one button. It automatically empties the bin of dust above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after each run.

It has a wide range of other features that make it an excellent choice for homes with a lot of space that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses both a camera and processor-powered intelligents to identify obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests, it was the best at avoiding objects such as power cables. It's not as precise in detecting pet waste, or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Eufy owned by Anker, has become an iconic name in the world of robots that are budget-friendly vacuums. However, it did not provide an option to mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features and is able to compete against more expensive models.

The laser navigation is the most important feature of this machine. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to create an accurate picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It is able to easily throw debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are adept at grabbing edges and corners. It's not the best cat litter picker, though our tests have shown it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. While this is good for loose spills however, you aren't able to regulate the amount of water it is using, which will limit its effectiveness on more serious staining. That said, it does an excellent job of removing pet hair, and has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, powerful appliances. It has a beautiful design, a great navigation system and a powerful cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot like the RX2 features a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes an LIDAR sensor to map out a room and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been mapped and assigned, you can designate virtual no-go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also begin an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see live feeds from the cameras onboard and more from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors with no floor. But it's not the most efficient robot available. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of metal.

Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It is able to detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from steps, makes it one of the most agile vacs we've tried.

It was able to climb over the thick shag carpets and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring beat the competition, and it picked up 98.5% of dirt and embedded dog hair from our lab test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competitors. There's a clean button at the top and you can choose to start it with the app or voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check the history of its cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. The rear dust bin is easy to empty and removing the filter is just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking to buy a basic, no-frills robot vacuum for shark 2 in 1 robot Vacuum a reasonable price, the Eufy 11S is a great option. It's not equipped with some advanced features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping that are found in higher-end models. However, if you do not need these functions, you can save money.

It also has more advanced automation features than its competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary lines using its mobile app. Although the application is a bit slow and the 980 may spin out a bit while crossing cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum for hardwood floors vacuum.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a cleaner vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.

Other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes, that pick up dirt from carpets and hard floors as well as a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate across furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It also automatically returns to the base station to allow for recharging in between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as good as some other robot vacuums. However, it is a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
