Once the valet or service mode is activated it will block your BMW from being able to drive when it is first started. This stops anyone from test driving it whilst you are away. After you return, the car will be restored to normal operation and prevent it from being damaged or stolen.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and once active, any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. If the system detects that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it is not able to locate the correct code, it will also stop the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode which allows your car to start and drive without having to enter your PIN.

If you own an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it can be used to disable the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system inside your car even when the vehicle is parked unattended.
