BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The ghost immobiliser and tracker utilizes the CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from replacing the ECU or installing an additional lock to circumvent the security system.

In contrast to other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LED indicators or key-fobs. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to allow you to enter a unique disarming sequence that you can only remember.

Stop & Start

If you've ever driven a BMW or used its stop-start feature you may have noticed the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds after you have released the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuing to monitor your vehicle for signals from the ignition key, and once this is found it will keep running. Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or adding an aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessible through buttons on your car. This allows you to enter an exact key-push sequence that is not in the normal menus for media, like volume up/down, cruise control, source or aircon on, which prevents your car from starting unless the sequence is entered. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 numbers which makes it extremely difficult for thieves to determine or break.

We can also include the ability to use a service/valet feature. This mode is activated when your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is away from the garage. You can activate this mode by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment device (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically re-arm when you return.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

When the service or valet mode is activated, it will block your BMW from being able to drive when it is first started. This stops anyone from test driving it whilst you are away. Once you return it will be back to normal driving, stopping your car from being damaged or stolen once again.

The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you require is the correct keys, because the device does not use the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this subtle device that is unobtrusive and helps in battling the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It's designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive away. Ghost links up to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence which must be entered before the engine can be started.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be stopped. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it fails to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can deactivate the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without entering a PIN.

If you own an GPS device that is connected to your BMW, you can use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system while the vehicle is parked. If you own a smartphone, you can also hook it up to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This is useful if a valet or mechanic has to start your car, but you are and not in the vicinity. The system allows you to turn your vehicle on and off, then select drive and quit service mode without needing keys. You can also see your vehicle's location in real-time on a map using your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car whilst moving around.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or inside the center console. It is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require extra wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a unique pin code is inserted into it. The pin code has to be entered prior to the vehicle's start. This stops thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to get around this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter a security mode and shut down all functions unless a PIN code is entered, or you use the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was designed to protect you vehicle from thieves with high-tech equipment who utilize relay boxes to steal it. It also prevents thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to activate your sat-nav or mp3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost can also stop "Relay-style Frequency Amplification". This is the most common way that a vehicle is being stolen with a key-fob that has been copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing an anti-theft device within your vehicle called Secure-A-Key. The device is installed inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
