Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to mark the centennial of the company. It is constructed of Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes a flying "B" paperweight, keys, and an original 1930s booklet that features never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons one of which opens the trunk, and another that turns on the vehicle. The key also has a switch for turning on the parking brake. The key is made of vegetable tanned leather. It takes about two days to craft each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed, sealed, and then polished to achieve a high-quality result. It is lightweight and durable and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is akin to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however, it feels heavier and has a more luxurious feel.

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of bently Keys without keypads. The device is placed inside the remote-control key fob. Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to build and put together a Mulsanne. The main reason for this lengthy effort is a conscious refusal to embrace modern tech.
