Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the brand's centenary. It is made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight, keys, and an unreleased booklet with 1930s 8 Litre images.

Design

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key features a button that opens the trunk, and another button that turns on the car. It also has a button to switch on the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors while parking in a tight space. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your vehicle.

The key is constructed from vegetable tanned leather and takes over two days to create each one. It is hand cut, shaped, sewn, sealed and polished to give an excellent finish. It is robust, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design resembles the Volkswagen Phaeton's big car key, but it feels more substantial and premium.

It also has Secure-A-Key which prevents theft of keys that are keyless. This device is placed inside the remote control fob, and is disabled when the key isn't used for more than a few minutes. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which will allow the key to be opened and start the vehicle.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to design their own car. The guests sit at a collection of images called "mood stations" and select a series of photos - from scenic vistas to sporting events - that are inspiring to them to design their own.
