Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is connected to the BMW's CAN data network and is programmed with a secure, unique PIN code which is accessible through buttons in your car. This lets you enter a specific key push sequence that isn't found in the normal menus for media, such as volume up/down and source, cruise control or aircon on that prevents your car from starting unless it is entered. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to figure out.

In addition, we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system, this is activated when your vehicle is scheduled for maintenance to ensure that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. This can be accomplished by pressing the service button on your infotainment system 5 times (the system will flash to confirm this) and then when you return the Ghost will automatically re-arm.

This lets you start the vehicle using your keys but prevents the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for customers who need to hand their vehicles over to valet businesses or other trusted friends and family members. This allows you to bring your vehicle to the garage for maintenance or repairs, etc. without fearing that it will be modified by an expert mechanic while you wait.

Once the service/valet mode is activated, your BMW is unable to drive after it is started. This prevents anyone else from testing driving it while you're away. Once you return, the vehicle will return to normal operation and stop it from being altered or stolen.

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this subtle, unobtrusive device to combat the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It's designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your vehicle and drive away. Ghost links up to your CAN data network and utilizes the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence that needs to be entered before the engine can be started.

This will activate the anti-hijack function and once active, any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. If the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it is not able to identify the correct code it will also stop the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode that allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device linked up to your BMW it is possible to use it to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system inside your car when the vehicle is parked unattended. You can also use your smart-phone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go capabilities. The system allows you to start your car by selecting drive, then exit the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle's location on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be installed on the dashboard or within the centre console. It is completely concealed, tamperproof, and does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is inserted into it. The pin code has to be entered before the vehicle starts. This stops thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU to disable this system.

If your vehicle is stolen the Ghost will go into service mode and disable all functions unless you have the PIN code or the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was designed to protect your vehicle from high-tech thieves who use relay boxes to steal it. Ghost also blocks the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most frequent method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob that's been duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost lets you stop this kind of theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is inserted into the key-fob of your vehicle and then removes the battery after a short period of inactivity, this is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
