1. iRobot S8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is an excellent choice for many households. It vacuums and mops well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors and offers a broad range of features and controls that are accessible through the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that need extra attention and Keep Out zones that you don't want it to be. While Anker-owned Eufy has made its name in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that can also mop. This is changing with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features and is able to compete with more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this device is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of a laser mapping system that is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to build up an accurate map of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is ideal for multi-floor homes.

Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, beautiful design, and a great navigation. But it has a few operational oddities that keep it from ranking as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technology that makes use of LIDAR to map the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped the app allows you to assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also initiate an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view a live feed from the cameras onboard and more on the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions immediately. The suction and sweeping power are top-notch and cleans up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the fastest robot vacuum brands on the market. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of steel.

Some people buy robot vacuums because of the ease of setting up a schedule using an app, only to forget about them for weeks. But it's important that a robot is able to accomplish the task, which is the reason why our ZDNet staff looked over and tested a number of the most popular models to help you select the perfect one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac that looks just like the other, but has several more features and better performance. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones and check the history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a stylish dark gray plastic that looks and feels appealing in your home. 5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking to buy a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a low cost, the Eufy11S could be a good choice. The model isn't equipped with smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping found in more expensive models. If you don't need these functions, you can save money.

This robot is very easy to setup and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does have the ability to control the remote with a remote that allows you to select between different modes and adjust the suction level. During our tests, the 11S was very effective at removing pet hair and dirt on hard floors and in carpets with low pile. It also has more advanced automation features than its competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary lines with its mobile app. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if the application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when it is pushed over cables.

One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It then uses this information to design a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than the majority of high-end robot Vacuum mops vacuums.

The 980's other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from hard floors and carpet, along with the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin.
